Sacred Event & Favorite Films

Sacred Event
Christmas is definitely one of the sacred events my family and I celebrate every year. As a Catholic, it's a day when Jesus Christ was born; a special day we re-celebrate his birthday. Some children also re-enact the events of the Nativity with animals to portray the event with more realism. A day full of blessings from family and friends, a reminder to be thankful everyday because God has given his only son. It's a special day where my family and I get together to celebrate and have a feast. It's a day full of love and happiness because that's what Jesus Christ brings into my family.

Favorite Films
1. The Notebook
2. Taken
3. A Walk to Remember

Lambchop- Is A Woman

In the song, "Is A Woman" by Lambchop shows the life of a leaf. It's a song that shows a leaf trying to travel on a spring of water during the winter time. As the leaf travels along the water, there's time when it had to stay on a certain spot and  then continues again with life. As the leaf hits a new season, it leaves the cold water, and starts a new day with other the leaves as they continue with their journey to their final destination. As they reached their destination, a new whole life is born. What used to be a leafless tree is now finally bloomed with all the beautiful leaves. A new bloomed tree is born and a new season has begun.

Celestial Model & Sacred Center

Celestial Model
What's the meaning behind my name, Zyra Mae? When I asked my mom about it, she said she got it from the radio. She was listening to the radio at home and the name, Zyra, came up and at that time she was pregnant. My middle name, Mae, was chosen by her because she simply like the name and it goes along well with my first name. I was born in the Philippines, so I hear my name more often with the people who have the same ethnicity like mine.

Sacred Center
One of the sacred centers is my room. It's a place where I can be separated from everyone whether from the outside world or people around me. I spent my majority time on my room when I'm at home and that is where you can usually find me. It's a special place where I can express my emotions whether I'm sad, depressed, angry, or disappointed. It's also a place where I can let my stress out just by putting my headphones on and just listen to the music all day long, a place where I feel safe and sound.

Series of Dreams

In the song “Series of Dreams,” Bob Dylan uses the symbols and archetypes of fire, running, and falling to express the theme of dreams.  According to the Bob Dylan, “in one, numbers were burning.” Dreams do not only include running: “Running, running away, being pursued by a predator or savage warrior, is a common happening in our dreams. Dreams not only include fires and running, but also “falling, a natural calamity […] in dreams” (Stevens, pg. 418).

Ariadne's Clue

Interesting/Insightful Quotes

  • "Human dreams are spontaneous, involuntary events which generate symbols every night of our lives. In dreams, no less than in consciousness, we use symbols to try out ideas in the light of past experience and to formulate new concepts burst through the threshold of consciousness (Stevens, 16-17)."
  • "The typical dreams reported involved predatory animals, flying, falling, being pursued by hostile strangers, landscapes, sex, getting married and having children, taking examinations or undergoing some similar ordeal, traveling (whether on foot, horseback, car, airplane, or ship), swimming or being in the water, watching fires, and being confined in an underground place (Stevens, 21)."
  • "Symbols and words have one thing in common: that they are all sensory expressions of thought. Thoughts which are invisible and inaudible in themselves are made visible and audible in images and sounds (Stevens, 28)."
Confusing Quote
  • "Symbol formation is evidently related to reification- a parallel propensity by which an idea or an abstraction is transformed into something tangible, such as a deity (for example, Eros, God of Love; Mars, God of War; and Gaia, Mother Earth) (Stevens, 36)."

Simple.Compound.Complex.Compound-Complex.

I had a dream being late to class. I tried looking for my alarm clock, but I could not find it anywhere.  Because it was still dark outside, I wanted to stay in bed until it was the right time to get ready. Even though I could not find it, I was able to manage my time to be in class, and I got to see some of my friends from the previous classes.
